What are IOP and PHP, and How Can They Help You?

Teen IOP: After-School Treatment That Keeps Life on Track

Our teen IOP runs after school and in the evenings so your teenager doesn't miss class. 9-20 hours per week of therapy specifically designed for adolescent brains, adolescent problems, and adolescent development stages.

Individual therapy with a teen specialist. Group therapy with peers their age. Family sessions that give you tools, not just venting sessions.

PHP: Daily Support for Teens in Crisis

When your teenager is in acute distress, suicidal, self-harming, or unable to function at school, PHP provides the daily structure they need. 5-6 days per week, 6-8 hours of intensive care from a team that specializes in adolescent psychiatric treatment.

This isn't hospitalization. They come home each night. But during the day, they're in the hands of professionals who know exactly what they're doing.

iMatter: Catching Problems Before They Become Crises

The best time to address a teen's mental health is before it becomes an emergency. iMatter places licensed counselors in schools to provide early identification and support.

We work with Fort Worth ISD to ensure students have access to professional mental health support during the school day, in a setting that feels normal and safe.

How Families Start with Us

01

Step 1: A Conversation About Your Family

We talk to you (the parent) first. Then we meet your teenager. We want to understand the family dynamic, the school situation, and what's been happening from both perspectives.
02

Step 2: Personalized Treatment Recommendations

Our team recommends the right program intensity and schedule. We factor in your teen's school calendar, extracurricular commitments, and your family's availability for family sessions.
03

Step 3: Active Treatment Begins

Your teenager starts treatment: individual therapy with a teen specialist, group sessions with peers their age, and regular family therapy sessions. You're part of this process too.
04

Step 4: Continuing Care and Family Support

We don't just end treatment. We build a plan: school coordination, family communication strategies, crisis protocols, and follow-up check-ins. Your family leaves equipped.

Support that empowers.

The MAM difference: how accessible care fosters hope and progress.

I don't think I will ever be able to adequately articulate what Mind Above Matter (Burleson - Virtual) did for me in a time where I needed something so desperately. At the time, I didn't know what I needed, or how anything could help, but thank the Lord I was directed to MAB. The program literally saved my life and set me back up for success. I 100% feel like I've been able to take back my life with the help from the therapists, psychiatrist, and program that I was apart of in my time at MAB. If you are thinking about starting this program, or referring someone you love to this program, don't hesitate - do it. I promise, you will not regret it.

We had the absolute best experience working with Ally. She was my child’s therapist and made such a positive impact on her life, not just in her progress, but in her confidence and overall happiness. From the very beginning, Ally made our entire family feel included in the process. She took the time to explain everything clearly, welcomed our questions, and always made us feel heard.
Her kindness, patience, and genuine care for her clients truly set her apart. It’s clear she’s passionate about what she does and deeply invested in helping each child succeed. We are so grateful for her support and would recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate and skilled therapist.

Graduating from the PHP and IOP program at Mind Over Matter has been a life-changing experience for me. From the very beginning, I felt truly supported and cared for. The therapists here are absolutely incredible — compassionate, skilled, and genuinely invested in helping you grow and heal.

Each session felt meaningful and safe, and the team created an environment where I could open up, work through challenges, and actually see progress. What stood out the most was how much the therapists went above and beyond — they didn’t just “do their job,” they made me feel seen, heard, and understood in a way that’s rare to find.

If you’re looking for a program that provides structure, encouragement, and outstanding therapists who truly care, I can’t recommend Mind Over Matter enough. This place gave me the tools and confidence I needed to move forward, and I’ll always be grateful for my time here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my teenager needs this level of care?
If your teen's anxiety, depression, or behavior is affecting school, relationships, or daily functioning, and regular weekly therapy isn't enough, IOP or PHP may be appropriate. We provide a free assessment to help determine the right level of care.
Will treatment interfere with school?
No. Our teen programs are designed around the school calendar. After-school and evening tracks are available so your teen stays on track academically.
Can parents participate?
Yes. Family therapy is a standard part of our adolescent programs. We also offer parent education groups that run during teen sessions so everyone is learning and growing together.
What if my teen refuses to go?
This is common. Our intake team can coach you through strategies to help your teen engage. Many teens who are initially resistant become willing participants once they feel safe and understood.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. Medicaid and all major commercial insurance. We verify everything upfront so you know your costs before treatment begins.
What happens after treatment ends?
We build a comprehensive aftercare plan before discharge. This includes follow-up appointments, school coordination, family communication strategies, and a crisis plan. We also offer alumni check-ins.
