What are IOP and PHP, and How Can They Help You?

Who Needs IOP?

  • You're struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, or substance use—and weekly therapy isn't cutting it
  • You were in inpatient care and need a strong step-down program
  • You're managing a crisis at home—self-harm, suicidal thoughts, panic—but don't need 24-hour hospitalization
  • You need help NOW, not in three weeks when your therapist has an opening
  • You're a parent, student, or working adult who can't take weeks off

What's Included in IOP

  • Group Therapy – Process what you're going through with others who get it. Learn from their recovery. It's powerful.
  • Individual Therapy – One-on-one sessions with your therapist, using proven methods like CBT and DBT
  • Psychiatric Care – Evaluation, medication management, and close monitoring from board-certified psychiatrists
  • Family Therapy – Because you don't heal alone. Sessions with parents, partners, or key family members
  • Skills Workshops – Learn practical tools for managing anxiety, regulating emotions, communication, relapse prevention

Your Schedule (You Control It)

9–20 hours per week, designed to fit your life.

  • Day Track: Mornings or afternoons, for students or remote workers
  • Evening Track: 5–8 PM sessions if you're working full-time or in school during the day
  • Hybrid: Mix of day and evening to match your needs

3–5 days per week. You pick the intensity. Most people find 4 days/week is the sweet spot.

What You'll Actually Experience

Relief in Days, Not Months

You start right away. By week 1, you're in group, working with your therapist, seeing your psychiatrist. People report feeling heard and supported immediately.

Real Tools, Not Just Venting

CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, family systems work. Evidence-based stuff that actually changes how you think and respond to stress.

Medication Managed Right

Close psychiatry oversight. Meds adjusted based on real progress, not a 15-min check-in once a quarter.

You're Not Alone

Group therapy is where the magic happens. You realize you're not the only one. Other people get it. That's healing.

I don't think I will ever be able to adequately articulate what Mind Above Matter (Burleson - Virtual) did for me in a time where I needed something so desperately. At the time, I didn't know what I needed, or how anything could help, but thank the Lord I was directed to MAB. The program literally saved my life and set me back up for success. I 100% feel like I've been able to take back my life with the help from the therapists, psychiatrist, and program that I was apart of in my time at MAB. If you are thinking about starting this program, or referring someone you love to this program, don't hesitate - do it. I promise, you will not regret it.

We had the absolute best experience working with Ally. She was my child’s therapist and made such a positive impact on her life, not just in her progress, but in her confidence and overall happiness. From the very beginning, Ally made our entire family feel included in the process. She took the time to explain everything clearly, welcomed our questions, and always made us feel heard.
Her kindness, patience, and genuine care for her clients truly set her apart. It’s clear she’s passionate about what she does and deeply invested in helping each child succeed. We are so grateful for her support and would recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate and skilled therapist.

Graduating from the PHP and IOP program at Mind Over Matter has been a life-changing experience for me. From the very beginning, I felt truly supported and cared for. The therapists here are absolutely incredible — compassionate, skilled, and genuinely invested in helping you grow and heal.

Each session felt meaningful and safe, and the team created an environment where I could open up, work through challenges, and actually see progress. What stood out the most was how much the therapists went above and beyond — they didn’t just “do their job,” they made me feel seen, heard, and understood in a way that’s rare to find.

If you’re looking for a program that provides structure, encouragement, and outstanding therapists who truly care, I can’t recommend Mind Over Matter enough. This place gave me the tools and confidence I needed to move forward, and I’ll always be grateful for my time here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I miss work or school?
Maybe some. Our evening and hybrid tracks are designed to minimize that. We also coordinate with schools to help teens balance treatment and academics. Most people adjust their schedule within the first week.
How long is IOP?
Most people do 4–8 weeks. Some need longer. We reassess every 2 weeks and adjust based on your progress. Our goal is to get you stable enough to step down to weekly therapy or alumni support.
What if my insurance doesn't cover it?
We accept Medicaid. If you're uninsured or your insurance doesn't cover IOP, we offer sliding scale rates and payment plans. Don't let cost keep you from getting help.
Is it just talk therapy, or will you look at medication?
Both. Every client in IOP gets access to psychiatry. We evaluate whether medication would help, monitor closely, and adjust as you progress.
What if it doesn't work for me?
We track outcomes and adjust your treatment plan if something isn't working. If IOP isn't the right level of care, we might recommend PHP (more intensive) or transition you to outpatient therapy.
Can I do this virtually?
We offer some virtual sessions, especially for check-ins and individual therapy. Group and psychiatry are best done in-person. We can often do a hybrid—some in-person, some virtual.
