What are IOP and PHP, and How Can They Help You?

Teen IOP: Intensive Support Without Leaving Home

Our teen IOP provides 9-15 hours of structured clinical care per week — adolescent-only group therapy, individual sessions with a dedicated therapist, family therapy, and skills training. Sessions are scheduled before or after school so your teenager continues their academic program. We treat depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD, self-harm, emotional dysregulation, and other adolescent mental health conditions.

PHP for Teens in Acute Crisis

When a teenager's symptoms are severe enough to require daily intensive support — 6-8 hours per day — teen PHP provides the highest level of outpatient care available before inpatient hospitalization. PHP is often the right step after a psychiatric hospital stay or when outpatient and IOP have not been sufficient. School coordination and family support are built into the program.

Why Families Choose Mind Above Matter for Teen Treatment

Adolescent-specific programs — teens are never mixed with adult groups.

Family is part of the treatment — regular family therapy sessions and parent support groups are built into the program.

School coordination — we work with your teenager's school on accommodations, attendance documentation, and academic transitions.

JCAHO Accredited — meeting the highest national standards for adolescent behavioral health.

What Teen IOP at Mind Above Matter Includes

Intensive Outpatient Group Therapy Near Texas

Adolescent-Only Group Therapy

Teen-only groups with age-appropriate DBT skills and CBT techniques. Peer connection with other teenagers working through similar challenges. Teens are never mixed with adult treatment groups.

Family Therapy & Parent Support

Regular family sessions with your teen's therapist and separate parent support groups. We build skills on both sides of the relationship — not only inside the teenager.

School Coordination

We coordinate with your teenager's school on attendance accommodations, academic support letters, and smooth transitions back to full school participation. iMatter brings these services directly into DFW schools.

Flexible After-School Scheduling

IOP sessions are scheduled to work around the school day. Your teenager stays in school and receives treatment — these two things are not in conflict in our program.

Why DFW Families Choose Our Teen Program

Teens Stay in School

Our after-school and morning scheduling allows teenagers to maintain academic attendance. Getting help should not cost your teenager their school year.

Insurance and Medicaid Accepted

Most major commercial plans and Texas Medicaid accepted for teen IOP and PHP. Benefits verified on your first call at no cost to you.

Evidence-Based Adolescent Treatment

CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, and other evidence-based approaches adapted specifically for adolescent development. Not adult treatment applied to teenagers.

Consistent Adolescent Treatment Team

Your teenager works with the same therapist and psychiatrist throughout treatment. Consistency matters especially for adolescents building trust with clinical providers.

Here's How It Works

01

Step 1: Call Us — We Listen First

Pick up the phone and tell us what's going on. We'll listen, ask a few questions, and help you figure out if we're the right fit — no pressure, no commitment required.
02

Step 2: We Determine the Right Level of Care

A licensed clinician reviews your situation and recommends IOP, PHP, or a step-down sequence. Insurance is verified on this same call in most cases.
03

Step 3: You Start Treatment

You show up and do the work. Therapy sessions, group work, psychiatric appointments — your team is consistent and your plan is built around your life.
04

Step 4: We Plan What Comes Next

Before you finish, we build an aftercare plan together — ongoing therapy, community resources, and a clear picture of what staying well looks like for you.

Support that empowers.

The MAM difference: how accessible care fosters hope and progress.

I don't think I will ever be able to adequately articulate what Mind Above Matter (Burleson - Virtual) did for me in a time where I needed something so desperately. At the time, I didn't know what I needed, or how anything could help, but thank the Lord I was directed to MAB. The program literally saved my life and set me back up for success. I 100% feel like I've been able to take back my life with the help from the therapists, psychiatrist, and program that I was apart of in my time at MAB. If you are thinking about starting this program, or referring someone you love to this program, don't hesitate - do it. I promise, you will not regret it.

We had the absolute best experience working with Ally. She was my child’s therapist and made such a positive impact on her life, not just in her progress, but in her confidence and overall happiness. From the very beginning, Ally made our entire family feel included in the process. She took the time to explain everything clearly, welcomed our questions, and always made us feel heard.
Her kindness, patience, and genuine care for her clients truly set her apart. It’s clear she’s passionate about what she does and deeply invested in helping each child succeed. We are so grateful for her support and would recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate and skilled therapist.

Graduating from the PHP and IOP program at Mind Over Matter has been a life-changing experience for me. From the very beginning, I felt truly supported and cared for. The therapists here are absolutely incredible — compassionate, skilled, and genuinely invested in helping you grow and heal.

Each session felt meaningful and safe, and the team created an environment where I could open up, work through challenges, and actually see progress. What stood out the most was how much the therapists went above and beyond — they didn’t just “do their job,” they made me feel seen, heard, and understood in a way that’s rare to find.

If you’re looking for a program that provides structure, encouragement, and outstanding therapists who truly care, I can’t recommend Mind Over Matter enough. This place gave me the tools and confidence I needed to move forward, and I’ll always be grateful for my time here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my teenager continue attending school during IOP?
Mind Above Matter coordinates directly with school districts to support students in treatment. We provide documentation for attendance accommodations, communicate with school counselors when appropriate, and ensure that entering IOP or PHP does not jeopardize academic standing. The iMatter program brings mental health support directly into participating school buildings, and our clinical team has experience navigating school system requirements alongside clinical care.
Does insurance cover teen IOP or PHP in DFW?
If you have commercial insurance or Texas Medicaid, most or all of the cost is typically covered. Mind Above Matter accepts most major commercial plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare, as well as Texas Medicaid STAR, STAR+PLUS, and CHIP. We verify your benefits on your first call at no charge and tell you exactly what your out-of-pocket costs look like before you make any commitment. Most patients pay little to nothing out of pocket.
What mental health conditions do you treat in teen IOP?
Yes. Mind Above Matter offers dedicated adolescent IOP and PHP programs for teenagers ages 12-17. Teen programs use age-appropriate DBT and CBT modalities, run in adolescent-only groups, and include family therapy and parent support as core components. After-school scheduling allows teenagers to continue attending school during treatment.
How is teen IOP different from teen weekly therapy?
Are parents involved in teen IOP treatment?
Yes. Family involvement is a core component of our adolescent programs. This includes weekly family therapy sessions with your teen's therapist and separate parent support groups. Parents do not attend every clinical session, but engagement in family therapy and parent support is expected and makes a meaningful difference in treatment outcomes. We provide parents with their own support and education throughout the process.
